The French language diplomas are issued by the French Ministry of Youth, National Education and Research. They are recognised in more than 150 countries, as well as by many professionals.

The French exams can be offered in the 900 registered exam centres distributed in 154 countries. The DELF and DALF certifications take into account the international examination standards (ALTE) as well as the harmonisation with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (COE). They are also placed under the authority of the national DELF and DALF Commission whose headquarters are in the Centre international d'études pédagogiques (CIEP) in Sèvres, France.

The 6 French diplomas which make up the DELF and the DALF are entirely independent of each other. In this way, the candidate, in accordance with his/her level, can directly enrol for the exam of his/her choice.

DELF - Diplôme d'Etudes en Langue Française
DALF - Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française
